This time 3 years ago I was sitting outside Lisburn Civic Centre sick to my stomach. I hadn't slept the night before, I was so nervous I could barely speak and I was about to do the bravest thing I had ever done in my life. I was about to photograph someone's wedding for the very first time.
I got this email from Vikki this morning and I was so touched that she took the time to write it but also in shock that it's been 3 years since that life-changing day!
"Hey Janine,
Its 3 years today and I just watched our slideshow again (like I do at least once a month) and I wanted to say we still love our pics - you captured everything about our day. I tell everyone about you and I've enjoyed seeing you become this amazing award winning photographer who did our wedding! I read your blog at least once a day & I agree with your other blog readers - you need to write a book!

I can't tell you how shy I used to be and how huge a deal it was for me to spend a day being this bubbly girl I knew I wanted to be but couldn't quite muster in real life. In the car on the way home from their wedding I phoned my friend Julie and roared down the phone "I did it, I did it, I got through it and I loved it!!". From then on Julie referred to 'Photography Janine' and 'Regular Janine' as two separate beings and still to this day laughs at the notion of me sitting outside a building giving myself a good talking to for a full hour before a wedding. Even though the two Janine's have merged over time, I still have to give myself a good talking to every now and again!
Happy Anniversary Vikki and Stuart! I hope the past three years have been as amazing for you as they have been for me. Thank you so so much for putting your trust in this hopelessly shy girl, your generous compliments and referrals sewed some seeds of confidence that 6 months later allowed me to take my photography business full time. I will be forever grateful to you both!
